What Christmas is really all about…

Good evening beautiful world and Merry Christmas to you all. We’re coming to the end of one of the most widely celebrated events of the year, so I’m sure we’re all on a little come down to be honest! You know, I think it’s crazy how Christmas is one of those rare holidays that the majority of the population celebrate (I know not all religions and beliefs celebrate and that’s totally cool too). Across the world on this one special day, for once we’re all on the same page.

Now I know what you’re thinking – this is going to be one of those cliché posts about how Christmas isn’t about the gifts and the money spent, it’s all about the people you spend it with and blah blah blah.

And well you’re kind of right kind of wrong.

Sometimes, and I know this may seem a little stupid to some of you – I tend to get a little down over Christmas just due to the immense social pressure that’s built around it.

Especially when you’re younger, everyone’s asking each other what they got and what they did and comparing gifts and whatever.

I don’t know about everyone else but for me as I’ve grown I’ve realised how much of a blessing Christmas is, since it brings everyone together. And I mean everyone! As I said at the beginning of this post, the entire world is celebrating the same thing!

It’s the one opportunity/ excuse (if you like) to come together and express our gratitude for one another. I love that, that’s wholesome and good.

As I’ve said before, I like my designer and there are material things I desire, but for me to satisfy my soul and to make me feel at peace it’s all about the people I spend time with and the love I give and receive.

So for me, Christmas is never about the gifts.

If anything, I’d rather purchase myself the designer items in the future as a mark of my financial achievements in life! After starting my new job I treated myself to a Gucci scarf for no good reason other than I wanted it! It marked a major financial milestone in my success and so I did that for myself!

Christmas isn’t all about the giving of presents. It’s about the giving of love.

Spread it people, there can never be enough.

I hope you’ve all had a lovely holiday, and I wish you all a happy new year! Full of lots of new exciting things, and for one, more blog posts💫✨

All my love,

The Soul and the Brain

Hi all, I’m literally typing this on my phone right now because I had a sudden urge to write and that’s a good thing so I’m taking the urge while it’s there!

You know, over this entire year I have learnt more about myself than ever before, and one of the things I have learnt is that I almost have two Egos or two personalities. I call these my soul and my brain or my business mentality.

So my Soul is, of course, the part of me which pursues all the things I love and make me feel good. My soul loves the outdoors, classical music, listening to nature, playing piano and reading historical novels.

These are all things that satisfy the deepest parts of me which few people in my life see, because these are all things I love to do for myself and often by myself. They give me a sense of fulfilment, a sense of lightness in chest, I feel like there are infinite possibilities, a universe at my fingertips to explore.

Beautiful right? And we all have this side to us, you may just not have found what it is your soul most desires yet… and that’s cool. I don’t really know either which is what’s super frustrating when you’re a 19 year old who’s trying to get everything together! But it’s all part of the process and we have to grow to love ourselves.

This other part of me is the business mindset, the brain. I’m also a super competitive person and love the whole concept of business, being under pressure and the man-made world. I’m a sucker for materialism, I love designer and I love fashion, because they make me feel good. I want to be a boss lady, and trust me I will be.

The trouble is these two parts of me are so different I struggle to find a balance. See right now I’m on more of the business path, but sometimes I can’t help but feel disconnected from my spirituality.

It’s super important to stay true to ourselves through everything, and it’s why I ensure to always make time for myself in the day. Whether it’s waking up 2 hours earlier than I need to for work, it’s so worth it! Because it means I can find time to fulfil my soul, and then fulfil the business part of me in my job.

If this is you too, and you can’t seem to find a balance. Keep trying, go with your gut, and what’s meant to be will be. If we trust our souls, and fulfil all parts of ourselves then everything will work out.

Have a beautiful evening my loves, sorry for the randomness of this post!

All my love,

Staying motivated in Winter

Good evening beautiful world. It’s cold, dark and a little damp outside, so I think it’s very easy for all of us to sit in and cuddle up on the sofa, forget about our goals, and put off the gym.

In the Northern hemisphere of the Earth were heading into the cooler winter months and for many of us this can be a time when everything seems to stand still, and our motivation crashes.

It’s like the Universe is working against us. We may wake up with the intention to go on a morning run to get a healthy head-start on the day, yet you draw back your curtains and the rains pouring down outside, your heart automatically sinks and you turn back to your bed for that extra 20 minutes of sleep.

I know it’s more challenging to stay mentally focused in these times, whether it’s fitness related or just your goals in general. Personally I’m finding it harder to concentrate at work when the darkenss starts creeping over the sky at just past 4 in the afternoon. It instantly de-motivates me, because mentally I begin to switch off when it’s dark, to me that’s sleepy time!

SO how do we fight this?

This time of the year doesn’t have to be seen as money absorbing and light disolving, it’s a time where you can build your mentality up so well that nothing can get in your way or distract you from your goals. It’s a time that will challenge you in a good way, and will help strengthen that mental bone that weakens when you start to feel a chill in the wind.

Something that I find may be helpful to some, is moving your alarm clock away from your bed so you simply have to get out of bed to wake up in the mornings!

Have your gym clothing layed out before you for when you wake so that you have no choice but to put them on and go ahead and do your thing.

On the days that are sunny (and I know there may be few) do things that you enjoy and appreciate the outdoors. I know this sounds silly, but enjoying a sunny winters day makes me appreciate this season even more, and makes the darker days seem a lot more bearable.

Look after yourself, and don’t let the sickness flue of winter grab hold of you! Perhaps try drinking hot lemon and water daily, or making healthy meals full of vitamins and nutrition to keep your body fueled and strong. Because lets face it, if your body shuts down, you’re going to mentally shut down too!

We’ve got this people, if you have any tips for staying motivated this season please share them below I’d love to read what you have to say! 🙂

All my love,

Good afternoon everyone from the UK! I hope you’re all having a beautiful day, I have to say today I was feeling a bit tired and under the weather. It’s Friday, and I’ve been working of course, it’s easy to feel de-motivated and fed up. But I stick to my routines and do the best I can to keep positive and energised, most importantly though I don’t put too much pressure on myself to achieve too much in the day otherwise you’re effectively setting yourself up for failure… and a lot of stress.

Speaking of stress, I was rather stressed last night. My flight got bloody messed up for South Africa which would mean I now have to travel 16 hours in a car to get to the Game Reserve I wanted to volunteer at. Then we had the dilemmas of ringing up the airlines and trying to find a solution, and there wasn’t one, we would simply have to cancel and airplane and beachre-book a £600 flight and f*** that. I went up to get ready to bed all tight chested, confused and anxious that I wouldn’t be able to go to South Africa, and that really scared me.

If you have watched my YouTube video (Hannah Grace: Get to Know me Tag) or read previous blog posts of mine you would know that volunteering on a Game Reserve or with big cats in South Africa has been something I’ve been raving about since forever! It’s something I would potentially like to pursue a career in, to become a manager of a conservation park, restoring biodiversity and treating sick exotic animals would be a dream for me. Therefore you can understand why I was so stressed with the whole flight situation.

Relieving yourself of stress can be easily done, you just have to get yourself in the correct mindset. Sometimes all you have to do is take a step back, breathe and assess the situation. Often when one thing goes wrong we immediately escalate the situation in our heads. For instance, when I realised my flight might have to get cancelled I immediatly started fretting that I wouldn’t be able to go to South Africa, and that my parents (love them to bits) would lose out on £600 for the flight they brought me.

However, it’s not always as easy as that (I know I sound like I’m contradicting what I just said but hear me out people) sometimes we need to just get into our own space, take ourselves away from the situation andddddd…. MEDITATE. WOW what a big scary word and concept for some people!!! But we don’t need to be scared or resent meditation, it’s essentially the art of doing nothing, and tuning into Source Energy which literally means being at an inner peace and finding your calm.

After the whole South Africa mishap I was struggling to distract myself from the never-giraffesending streams of worries in my head, having a very anxious past means I find I can be particularly susceptible to getting anxious easily if I’m in the wrong mind-set. So, I took myself up to my bed, plugged in some earphones (wireless are even better) and with my app Calm I followed a guided meditation practice… and I kid you not I felt like I left my body!!!

The relaxation and meditation were exactly what I needed, I got to the point where I reached the ZONE the ultimate form of peace. All you have to do is follow your breathing and shut down your mind, this isn’t something that comes easily, and I’ve been practicing meditation for months before I reached this point. But even without the ZONE you’ll find yourself a lot more present and grounded than you were before, resulting in a calmer more rational mindset, where endless possibilities arise.

After meditating I convinced myself that I would still go to Africa and have an amazing time, and on the next day, BEHOLD I was offered a place on a different 5* reserve right near the airport I was flying to, at not additional cost!!!

This shit works guys, it’s all about changing your mindset, and mediation is the key to this, it can literally change your life.

All my love,

Be a Superhero

Not all superheroes wear capes, some are saving the world we live in just by doing the little things to preserve the environment we depend on so greatly, yet choose to ignore is burning around us.

So recently I went to London Westminster on a trip out with my family, and I happened to witness part of the ‘Extinction Rebellion’ which was taking place in Parliament Square. To me it all looked rather peaceful and inactive, to the point that you could quite bottles-daytime-environment-1201589easily walk by and completely ignore it… which is effectively what the majority of our population is doing in relation to environmental issues such as climate change. Reading the news headlines that people were ‘glueing themselves to fences’ and so on makes these people sound a little crazy, when in reality the crazy people are the ones not actively doing anything to save our planet!

For a lot of people ignorance is bliss, but by being deliberately ignorant we are effectively killing ourselves and our beautiful planet, which does not deserve to die by the hand of an egotistical race which thinks it’s so elevated and above the rest of the animal kingdom. We are animals too, we’re just accustomed to a more lavish way of living.

Just because our brains are bigger and more capable does not make us smarter what intelligent species would willingly kill the only place we have to live?

The facts: Climate change is not a myth despite what people like Donald Trump believe, and it needs attention! An estimation of 80% of the forest that covered the Earth 8,000 years ago has been destroyed and fragmented. Forest’s are essential for human survival, providing us with oxygen and turning waste into nutrients or raw materials such as oil hofman-seahorse-wpy.ngsversion.1505824244882.adapt.1900.1and gas. Approximately 8 million pieces of plastic find their way to the oceans every day!!!! EVERY DAY PEOPLE, resulting in trillions of pieces of plastic building up over time, this is not okay and has destroyed and endangered a high level of marine life. Evidently the largest threat to our planet is the human population itself, because the human population keeps doubling and quadrupling, we don’t have the space, we are out-growing our planet and as a result we are destroying the homes or other species because we believe we are more important.

“The question is, are we happy to suppose our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?”- David Attenborough

What can we all do to help? Literally spreading awareness is key, don’t allow people to turn a blind eye, make them put on those bloody spectacles and observe what is truly happening to our Earth! As the rebellion promoted ‘There is no Planet B.’ Participate in protests if that’s your thing, rebel in places which will get you noticed, join organisations that really support biodiversity and promote saving the planet. Be a superhero and reduce plastic by doing the little things such as; using reusable bottles, sign petitions to save the oceans and the rainforest, support companies which contribute money to save endangered species. One of my most admirable favourites is WWF, whom I intend to volunteer for in this summer of 2019! Save up, and travel to go and see it yourself, go to Africa and witness the lack of biodiversity which I’m doing in June this year (and intend to document for you guys!)- play your part in making a change, because not only are you doing something amazing to help the planet but you’ll feel like a superhero because you’re effectively saving the planet!

Two things that are more to the point that can help make a change: 1) Reduce your paper and wood in your daily life, things like toilet paper are causing endangered forests to be cut down. You can literally make the slightest changes in order to make change, by simply using both sides of an A4 piece of paper, or taking your own cloth bags to the grocery store to stop yourself buying plastic or paper ones. 2) Reduce your beef consumption– much of the rainforest is cut down in order to raise cattle for meat exportation, simply by reducing the amount of beef you eat will decrease the demand for it, and over time this will help preserve areas of endangered forest.

It doesn’t have to be hard friends, the key to saving our world is to make sure everyone is playing their part in saving it, be a superhero and make the little changes to improve our planet. Because everyone should have the chance to witness an elephant in real life, and not in captivity because they’re endangered, in their natural habitat in the wilderness where they belong.

Your body is a temple- making the move

Hello again fellow bloggers, I hope you are all well! My week has been pretty packed so far, I’ve been trying my hardest not to run around like a headless chicken and have partly succeeded. Stress, we’ve all had it, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and get into such a running routine that we forget to actually think about what we actually WANT to do in the day, rather than what ‘needs’ to be done.

You may be laughing at me, especially the parents out there who I believe lead some of the most manic lives of them all! Some of you may believe time is impossible to find, but this is part of the problem- we’ve been conditioned to believe there is never (or barely) the time to do the things we love- when really these are the things we should be prioritising!

Stress and this feeling of overwhelm can be incredibly harmful for our mental wellbeing, barefoot-beach-blond-2072583and lead to things like over-eating or anxiety. Myself included; when I was studying for my A Levels I literally allowed myself 0 time to do the things I truly loved doing, to the point that I almost felt as though I no longer knew myself- I had no identity. This led to further problems of anxiety and low mood, and just like how eating a poor diet can spiral, stress and overload can also spiral and develop into deeper issues. So yes, although I may not have kids or a 9-5 job I have been there too. Stress is like a black hole, it sucks everything into it so that everything around you no longer exists, in other words it consumes you, just like a black hole consumes matter in space. I know what it’s like to enter that black hole and have been through the struggle and pain of working against gravity and managed to pull myself back out the other side and survive.

How did I do it? Well for one I focused on what I loved again, but that’s a topic for another day since I could write a bazillionnnn pages about that. One of the key ways of relieving yourself from stress is movement. Whether its walking the dog twice a day (which I would highly recommend and you don’t even really need the dog), doing some outside yoga or going for a gentle cycle- even if it’s just 30 minutes it’ll make the world of difference. And make sure you’re outside, it’s all very well following a workout programme on your TV, yes that may keep you physically fit, but mentally you are still animals-black-and-white-equine-52500within the walls and space which you are most stressed in. Getting outside is not only refreshing, but you’ll experience nature which will help distract your brain (which may be running at 100000X an hour) therefore creating blocks in your thoughts and gradually slowing the pace of your mind. This will help create solutions to any problems you have since you can now think more rationally, because stress is contagious and can infect any future plans you may be trying to organise. Slowing your thoughts down will help calm you down in general, releiving you of the stress and overwhelm you have gathered throughout the day, and subconsciously pulling yourself away from that black hole (which could eat you alive).

So, make the move, and make time because your mental health and happiness should always be a priority, and in having a healthy mind you will naturally be more positive and observe greater gratitude throughout your day. Your body is a temple, never forget it, and do the right thing for you.

All my love,

Your body is a Temple- series

I think there are times when we all mistreat our bodies in one way or another; eating junk foods, consuming excessive amounts of alcohol or overloading ourselves with stress. These are all things we can agree we do from time to time… and that’s okay, it’s just important to remember not to over-do these things because the effects will reflect within and without.

When you eat excessive amounts of processed fatty foods, you will always feel the short-term effect of “Wow that was amazing, it tasted sooooo good!!!” But, the long-term effects can be far more damaging. Your skin will start to protest and your gut will be unhappy as the high volume of fat puts a high amount of pressure on our digestive system and blah blah blah… But most importantly the psychological effects can be devastating. It’s a downward spiral really but it’s so easy to get swept up in since fast food is so convenient and accessible.berry-blue-blueberries-70862.jpg

If you don’t take care of your body, who will?

We only get one body people, it’s time to start treating it properly! Start viewing and treating your body as a temple and the rewards will be evident; clear skin, reduction in weight, improvements mentally as well as a happy soul. One of the ways we can achieve this is through a healthy and colourful diet, fruit and vegetables aren’t only super good for you but you are naturally drawn to them because of the colour. For instance, if you were to compare a chocolate bar and strawberry, which one looks visually more appealing without knowing the taste? If you are saying the chocolate bar right now you are kidding yourself! The strawberry is shiny and red, and naturally looks appealing, whereas the chocolate bar looks no different to the churned up mud on the floor at a festival. Not only does the strawberry look sexy but you’ll undoubtedly feel far better and more energised for eating it than the chocolate bar, and in feeling better in yourself your self-esteem arises which opens more opportunities into our lives since you have the confidence to strive for what you want!

This may seem a little far-fetched to some, but I want you to try going a day of eating clean, try to reduce the level of processed sugars you ingest or foods that make you bloated and feel heavy. Be observant and pay attention to how you feel, physically and mentally, and I can almost guarantee you’ll see improvements!

What should I try? I’m not telling you to cut out every single piece of junk food from your diet completely, because that’s unrealistic in the long-term and you’re essentially setting yourself up for failure which is a hard-core NO. This is a gradual process and it’s important not to be too strict on yourself because that won’t work, we all need that bar of chocolate from time to time, especially when it’s that time of the month for us ladies! couple-freedom-friends-1066801

I would suggest:

  1. Green for GO– eat your greens with every meal throughout the day. For example: breakfast green smoothie, lunch half a bowl of salad, dinner some veggies such as brocoli or Brussel sprouts! Eating a high amount of greens has numerous health benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and obesity.
  2. Stay hydrated with H20– make sure to drink enough water consistently. If you wanted to mix it up add some lemon for taste or chia seeds for texture! Water helps remove waste products from our bodies, which we can all agree we don’t want.
  3. Keep it simple eat whole foods which are non-processed, this makes it easier for your body to break them down and results in less waste products in your body. It also means things are less complicated to cook, you don’t need to over complicate!

I will keep saying it people YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE  by respecting it and treating it right you will see results physically and mentally. Even if you just start by doing one meal a day, eating whole foods and greens, and work your way up to 3 meals that is super amazing and shows you are making the effort to change your life for the better! Always congratulate yourself for the small steps  you take to improving your life. Love yourself and keep faith, because once this becomes a routine, it’s easy.

All my love,
